Another day, another epigram
The sharp-eyed among you will have noticed that we do not have a new piano in the Clubroom. The even more observant will have seen that it is, in fact, in the rear dining room, disguised in a red jacket and lying on its side, trying to look inconspicuous.
On Tuesday morning, as planned, a piano removal firm arrived to swap the pianos. What was not planned was that neither piano could negotiate the stairs! We did not anticipate a problem because the Bechstein had arrived that way, but we had forgotten that, since that date, a stair lift had been installed, and the rail takes up a vital few inches of maneuvering room round the corners.
We are now arranging for the temporary removal of the rail, but as trades holidays are upon us we have lost the piano removers until 13th July.
Please note that we shall be without a stair lift for a few days - we will notify you when – and apologise for the inconvenience.
Incidentally we have had no entrants for the poetry competition. The delayed departure of the Bechstein gives you a further chance to put your skills to the test. There are no prizes other than publication on this website
PS As we are now on Plan B, the image represents Plan C. Do we have any expert lego builders or anyone who could construct a flat pack piano.
