Laura is a member and former Arts Convenor of the Club and current board member of Edinburgh Printmakers.
Her exhibition works reflect her interest in life drawing which she practices regularly at the Club. They aim to chart the movements of the model, hoping to extract additional poetry from the intersections between stages of movement. They were executed directly from life using thinned oil paints on raw canvas.
Barbara Mackie DA(Edin)
Barbara recently elected to do a year’s painting sabbatical in Sussex in order to intensify her output and her work is featured in this exhibition. Barbara is presently a member and Treasurer of the Club. She graduated in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art in the 1970s, taught art in schools and colleges, later managing arts development.
Her work echoes forms from the land she describes as ‘settings’, finding inspiration in hills, farmland, woodland and coastline resulting in powerful imagery, touching on reality but with much abstraction and expression. 'My work means a great deal to me, as if it were a fellow traveller, sharing the instances of life’.
After a lifetime of travel for work, Colin is depicting images from this global travel through the medium of prints (mainly etchings and aquatints). He started printmaking in 1976 through Sir John Cass School of Art in London, a key printmaking studio in The Hague and currently the Edinburgh Printmakers. Colin is a member of the Club and is presently Arts Convenor.
