About the Artists:
Kirkland Main RSA, is a 77 year old "Edinburgh school" painter (with John Houston, Barbara Rae, Alistair Moffat, and co. as contemporaries) - a colourist and painter of semi-abstract landscapes inspired by man's presence on the land. They set up the "New 57" gallery in Market Street in the 1960's together - we now know it as the Fruitmarket gallery. This is his exhibition resulting from his RSA Open Award from SAC in 2017. He does not keep very well but is still active painting from his studio in one of the whitewashed houses of Cramond.
Alison Kinnaird MBE, is a local (Temple Village) award-winning artist in glass, and a harp musician. She works by engraving glass to her own designs of people and nature, using copper wheels and fusing layers of glass to make coloured pieces. Her Festival fringe exhibition this August scored 1000 visitors! She is collected in the UK and abroad.
In addition to these artists we have our newest artist member, we welcome 19 year old student of international law - John Hager, lately arrived from the USA to study in Edinburgh University. John will exhibit 13 of his beautiful paintings (he paints Religious art, and also buildings) in the front Dining room.
