Soprano Gabrielle Sargent began her musical education in classical singing in Malta at the age of 11, undertaking vocal tuition with Andriana Yordanova for several years, before furthering her studies with Denise Mullholand. Gabrielle has regularly performed as a soloist in concerts and also enjoys ensemble singing. She has been a part of several choirs and vocal ensembles in Malta and in Edinburgh; some o which include chorus in BOV Opera Festival 2010 Aleko (Rachmaninoff), The Little Sweep (Britten) with Drama Troupe, the BOV Opera Festival 2014 La Clemenza di Tito (Mozart) and the BOV Opera Festival 2015 'L'Elisir d'Amore' (Donizetti). Gabrielle was awarded the Ian Tomlin Scholarship in 2016, which is when she moved to Edinburgh to commence her studies at Edinburgh Napier University. She is currently in her third year of the course, where she studies with Catriona Clark. Opera roles include Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Papagena (The Magic Flute) and 1st Fairy Spirit (Massenet’s Cendrillon). Gabrielle is very grateful for the opportunity to perform at the Scottish Arts Club in her first solo recital in the UK.
Jamie graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in 2015 with a Bachelors degree in Music with first class honours. Throughout his time at Napier he enjoyed developing his playing in solo classical performance under the tuition of Simon Coverdale and also in other areas such as chamber music and jazz. Since graduating he has focused on teaching and gaining experience in accompaniment with a view to go on to further study in this area in the coming years.
