The People versus Jack the Ripper ©. Investigative journalist Michael Mulford set out to disprove the “daft idea” that William Henry Bury, the last man hanged in Dundee, was actually Jack the Ripper. Michael quickly realised he was collecting a mass of hard, compelling evidence which convinced him that Bury was indeed the notorious Whitechapel serial killer. Michael presents evidence from an eminent Home Office pathologist, the FBI, a leading Scots QC, the last surviving Scottish lawyer who defended Capital murder cases, America’s most famous detective, and a renowned Scottish veterinary surgeon, to mention but a few. You, the entire audience, are invited to be the Jury and to vote guilty or not guilty.
Michael Mulford has held senior appointments in journalism, television and Government public relations. He was the first Crime Correspondent in the history of the Dundee Courier; Parliamentary Correspondent of The Scotsman; on-screen reporter and presenter, then later producer-director at STV and the ITV network; and official spokesperson for the UK military Search and Rescue Service. He has broadcast and recorded with traditional Scottish bands as a bass player; and last year one of his compositions was performed at the Edinburgh Festival. He recently ceased being a private pilot, having decided he was no longer certain if a Jumbo was a large aeroplane or an elephant!
