Fete Champetre - Garden Party 2018

This year's Garden Party will take the form of a Fete Champetre.

This was an outdoor entertainment popular with 18th century French aristocracy who would take picnics into their landscaped gardens in order to recreate a pastoral idyll.

The romantic atmosphere would be further enhanced by music wafting over them from behind the trees.

In our case Steve is going to provide luxury picnic baskets at £25 a head based on those provided at Glyndebone by Fortnum and Mason, and trestle tables will be provided for those who do not want 'dejeuner sur l'herbe'.

Referring to which, clothes will be worn.

There is no need to dress up in 18th century costume but it would be good if you would dress as you would for a special occasion like Ascot.

Other entertainment and goodies will be provided, both in the Club and in the garden. If the weather is inclement we will eat our picnics indoors.
