The St Andrew’s Dinner 2017

A fine dining opportunity to celebrate St Andrew
with the best of Scottish food and drink

The food will be locally sourced, seasonal and prepared by our own chef, Steve Morton.
To compliment the food, we will have paired whiskies delivered with tutorials from whisky expert Vic Cameron.
Vic has over 25 years experience in the whisky industry and is the founder of Discerning of Spirits - Malt Whisky Nosing and Tasting Experience and VC Services - Cereal and Whisky Consultancy.
Numbers are limited to 36 to ensure adequate care can be given to the presentation of each dish, and the premium price reflects the quality of the Halibut, Angus Beef, Lobster and all ingredients.
In 832 AD, Andrew is said to have appeared in a vision to a Pictish king the night before a battle.  On the day of the battle a Saltire, an X-shaped cross, which was the style of cross it is said Andrew was crucified on, appeared in the sky above the battlefield and the Picts were victorious. The Saltire, or Saint Andrew’s Cross, was subsequently adopted as the national emblem and flag of the Scots.

Marie - A comic new play about Mary Queen of Scots

Sarah MacGillivray, the Winner of the Club’s 2017 Bright Spark Theatre Award will give a special performance of Marie for Members and guests on Saturday 23 September at 6.30pm in the Clubroom. The performance lasts one hour.  After the performance Sarah and her co-creator Philip Bartlett will be available to talk to Members.  The audience will be asked for a donation (suggested minimum: £6.00).

Fast-paced and irreverent, “Marie” is a darkly comic play inspired by the life of Mary Queen of Scots, but given a distinctly modern twist.  There are two rules: first, the person you choose must be dead. And second, you have to be dressed up to get in.  It’s Thursday night in the “Prince Arthur” and their latest theme night is in full swing. Landlady Liz is run off her feet, whilst husband Barry struggles to get into his new costume. Elsewhere in London, a young woman from Edinburgh steps off a train, determined to make her dreams a reality.              Audience will be asked for a donation (suggested minimum £6).

6.30pm - 9.00pm
