The Highland Pipers Society

The Highland Pipers' Society (founded 1906) is the oldest continuing piping society (Hon. Pipe Major Jennifer Hutcheon). The object of the Society is to promote the playing and music of the great highland bagpipe and Scottish small pipes. Members regularly play at events in the City of Edinburgh and beyond, for example with the Stockbridge Pipe Band, the Trinity Occasional Piper’s Society, producing the Leith Mini-Tattoo, adjudicating for the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and playing for Greyfriars Bobby.

Various operas are introduced. There is a short introductory talk about the composer and the plot, and then a DVD of the opera is shown on the large screen.
